As a general
rule, all designs incorporate components that have industrial minimum
operating temperature ratings of -40°C to +85°C. Our experience
has shown that this should be the minimum ratings for most commercial
and industrial environments. In most cases, this has proven to be more
than adequate to provide reliable service and accuracy's. In extreme
situations, we have used automotive grade components to achieve the
higher ratings up to 125°C.
Multiple
sourcing of all components is standard procedure at CCSI. This, coupled
with our safety stock program, reduces the chances of parts shortages.
Industry standard or generic parts are used wherever possible to take
advantage of supplier stocks from several sources. Annual blanket orders
with scheduled deliveries are used whenever possible to maintain constant
flow of parts at the best available pricing.
All microprocessor
designs incorporate low voltage reset circuits, brown out protection,
power up timer slow rising power supplies, and a watchdog timer that
resets the CPU if an extraordinary external event causes a software
lock-up. Microprocessor parts are socketed to allow field replaceable
software upgrades.
Most designs
utilize low voltage inputs, designed to meet all current and expected
ELV requirements of UL, CSA, and CE.
Typical
designs incorporate double sided, plated through hole printed circuit
boards. PCB material will be FR4, with SMOBC, (solder mask over bare
copper), for production versions. Surface mount technology is used where
volume and applications warrant their use.
Documentation
of all hardware and software design information is maintained in both
paper and electronic media. All documentation is backed up in multiple
locations for maximum security. The buyer will have access to all of
this information under agreed upon circumstances.
Following
these principles allows CCSI to quickly and effectively handle issues
such as:
- Product
support and service
- Hardware
and software modifications and upgrades
- Part
substitutions
- Component
data
- Alternate
